I am sure we have all heard a saying along the lines of, “A Vision without a plan is just a vision.” We all have a vision or a goal that we want to achieve, whether its a personal challenge or something we want to be improved. Having a vision is merely the first step, the next step is to put it in the right direction and backing those goals with the right actions. This post details useful ways to create a Vision board also known as a dream board, which will help you direct your path.
The Vision
Start off with the vision, the goal, the desire or whatever it is that you want to accomplish. Take some time to figure out what is the most important to you by asking yourself what it is that you want, need, and value the most. You can either write it down in a journal or in the notes section on your phone. Next, begin to look for things to put on your board.
2. Supplies
The Foundation: Board, Book, Paper, Frame
Inspiration Items: This can consist of day to day items such as Magazines, Photos, Stickers, Quotes, sayings images of places you want to go, reminders of events, places, or people, postcards, and just about anything that will give you inspiration.
Scissors, tape, pins, glue, Markers/sharpies

3. Time & Space
The thought of creating your vision or inspiration board can be tedious or time-consuming. However, this should be a fun and easy process. Find some time, or Me-time, in your busy schedule when you have one or two hours free to do nothing else. These few hours should be your Me-time and be completely stress free. Take a moment to clear your head, listen to some music that gets you inspired, and create a working space.
4. Find your Inspiration
This step is about finding You! Take some time looking through everything that you have gathered and collected. Cut out images and pictures from magazines. Separate the images and other things you found by what is the most relevant and valuable to you. Be careful not to find pictures or words that will get you to doubt yourself or think negatively.
5. Your Creation
After you find your images and sorting them, the next step is to put everything together and finish your vision board. You can start to arrange them around the page and create a layout that works best for you. Once you you have that figured out, then you can paste or pin everything on your board or page.
Once you have created your vision board, you should put it somewhere visible. With so much on our plates we may get distracted or discouraged so displaying your inspiration board can serve as a daily reminder of everything that you love and plan to achieve. Christie Inge from Christieinge.com, mentions that you should create a “make it real” list. This list should be things or ideas that you can begin to work on as soon as possible, and it should be drawn from things created in the vision board.
