When I first began my-SELF journey (journey for self-care, self-love, self-awareness, etc.) I had a really difficult time with self-doubt. One of the first things that I did to help with this was by refocusing my energies and work towards becoming aligned with who I truly am.
In other words, I have been working to find myself. Flaws and all, I acknowledged what I did and didn't like about myself. I have been working on appreciating the good and accepting the bad. I also thought to myself that if the bad is something that I don't want to live with then I need to change it.
So I decided to share with you all a few things that I have been doing to align myself with a better version of Me!
Ways to better yourself:
Stop judging others
Stop comparing yourself to others
Stop talking down on yourself
Practice-self care
Meditate- Take a few minutes to be in the present moment, quiet your thoughts, and learn to connect with yourself.
Journal - write down your thoughts and opinions - create some downtime for yourself and do some self-reflecting. This will help a lot in you becoming more self-aware.
Become aware of your problems and what's going on in your life: You can do this by doing some introspection and seld- reflection: This may help you not judge yourself judge yourself - maybe you if you go back a few months from the journal entry - I know I do. I usually see the progress and growth between my journal entry and the months after. Sometimes, I will look back and think wow, this is great! I've improved a lot! Other times, I think wow, what was I thinking.
Change your mindset - Even in the littlest ways, mindset shapes everything around you- from your relationship to your career to how you show up in this world.
Stop over-thinking: This is not something that will happen overnight but will ultiately help you get rid of the fear of failure/success.
Stop procrastinating- Reflect on what the true issue is as to why you procrastinate - whether that be because you are afraid of failing or because you just do not like the work that needs to be done.
Stop caring what others think ( or at least taking it to the heart)
Put yourself first - I know this may be hard especially if you have obligations or other people to take
Focus on your goals and your dreams - never lose sight of what's truly important to you. Life may take us in a different direction, but I empower everyone to find litte ways to remain focused on those dreams.
Stop people-pleasing - Learn to stand up for yourself, create balance and boundaries.
Take your power back - Say no - and mean it! Most importantly - your thoughts and opinions matter too - so vocalize yourself by all means necessary.
Cut off negative people
Smile sis!
Be Kind - to YOURSELF!! Alot of times we can be our own worst critics and may put too much pressure on ourselves. So, I am epowering you to be kind and gentle to yourself and others.
This list is not for everyone and I can not guarantee that it will help you, these are the things that I have done and am still working on to become a better more well-rounded version of myself.
In the spirit of Valentine's Day and all things Love, it is important to remember to love yourself, care for yourself, and put yourself first. Now, even if you don't have someone to share this Valentine's day with, you can still dedicate this day to loving and catering to yourself. In fact you can start now and become a better, more evolved version of You!
